Morning Glory Leaves Have Brown Spots
Does anyone know what these tiny black spots on the leaves of my morning glory plants are.
Morning glory leaves have brown spots. Relatively wet winters and we have a morning glory in a potted container. Take a close look along the stems and under the leaves for the golden tortoise beetle. The morning glory genus ipomoea includes more than 500 species most of which are climbing vines. It seems that the spots are only on the top of the leaf not under. I was able to wash the specks off with soapy water. The morning glory ipomoea tricolor is a fast growing frost tender perennial vine endowed with heart shaped green leaves and trumpet shaped blooms in shades of pale blue lilac and dark purple. I also saw a couple on a petiole. It is a fungus that if not taken care of will affect the whole plant.
It wilts the ends of the leaves and then spreads onto the stem. This summer it has developed brown spots on its leaves and some of the leaves are also yellowing.
